Update of the virus signature database and update of program components are important parts in providing complete protection against malicious code. Please pay extra attention to its configuration and operation. Select the Update option from the main menu to see the update window in the right-hand side of the screen. Click Update virus signature database to instantly check for availability of a newer database update. Enter User name and Password… leads to a dialog window, where the User name and Password delivered by ESET should be filled in.
If the User name and Password were entered during the installation of ESET NOD32 Antivirus (recommended), you will not be prompted for them at this point.
The Advanced setup (press F5 to access) window contains other detailed update options. The item Update server should be set to Choose automatically. In this section, you will find the Setup… button, which lets you configure advanced update options, including the update mode, proxy server access, accessing updates on a local server and creating copies (in ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition).
