Remote administration

Remote administration is a powerful tool for maintaining security policy and for obtaining an overview of the overall security management within the network. It is especially useful when applied to larger networks. Remote Administration not only brings an increase in the security level, but it also provides ease-of-use in the administration of ESET NOD32 Antivirus on client workstations.
The remote administration dialog window is available from the main ESET NOD32 Antivirus screen. Click Setup > Enter the entire advanced setup tree > Miscellaneous > Remote administration.

The Setup window offers activation of the remote administration mode, which can be accomplished by first selecting the Connect to Remote Administration server check box. You can then access the other options described below:

  • Server address - network address of the server where the remote administration server is installed.
  • Port – this field contains a predefined server port used for connection. We recommend that you leave the predefined port setting of 2222.
  • Interval between connections to server (min.) – This designates the frequency with which ESET NOD32 Antivirus will connect to the ERA server to send out the data. In other words, information is sent at the time intervals defined here. If it is set to 0, information will be submitted every 5 seconds.
  • Remote Administrator server requires authentication - Allows you to enter a password for connecting to the remote administration server, if required.

Click OK to confirm changes and apply the settings, and ESET NOD32 Antivirus will use them to connect to the remote server.
